JOB DESCRIPTION Teaching different courses within the Department of Information Engineering: Internet of Things and Smart Cities, Telecommunications, Project Management, Probability Theory, Circuits and Systems for Telecommunications.

Doing research on Internet of Things and Smart cities, 5G systems (especially

machine-to-machine traffic in 5G networks), DVB systems (terrestrial and satellite),

OFDM based systems.

Chairman of the Information Engineering Degree curriculum from 2010 to 2014.

CEO the spin-off of Patavina Technologies, founded for the

development of Internet of Things systems and software:

-Directing all managerial and operational activities in order to improve the

corporate performance and revenues.

-Selection and evaluation of investments, financial and industrial partnerships.

-Implementation of strategic positioning processes on the national and international market.

The position also included visits to research centers such as the CTTC (Centre de

Technologic Telecomunicacions de Catalunya) and the interaction with multicultural teams,

working in an international environments.

Patavina Technologies has been successfully sold in June 2017 to A2ASmartCity (part of the A2A group, listed in the Italian Stock Exchange).

KEY ACHIEVEMENTS AND PROJECTS REALIZED

  1. Developed different product in the area of Internet of Things and in particular the LoRa Suite, a comprehensive solution for Lo-Ra based networks

  2. Voting member of IEEE 802.11 group

  3. Rapporteur in ETSI for the LPWAN-CSS technical report

  4. CEPT participation for short range devices matters (SE24 and SRD-MG groups)

  5. Representative of Patavina Technologies in AllSeen Alliance and Lo-Ra Alliance

  6. Contributed to develop the DVB-T2 standard (first author of one of the most cited papers on DVB-T2 in IEEE Journals)

  7. Participated in projects at regional and European level. Among the main ones PACIF and SWAP, the latter recognized by the European Community as best practice for the projects “Marie Curie”

  8. Introduced the Project Management course, one of the most followed by the students

  9. Supervising many MSc Degree theses and nine PhDs (among which a double Ph.D. degree with Supèlec, Paris, France)

  10. Started partnerships with the major TLC companies and collaborations with RAI, Wisycom, Vimar, ELVOX, Municipality of Padua, several top tier telecommunications companies worldwide, including Nokia Bell Labs.

  11. Co-author of the first article in the first issue of the IEEE journal on the Internet of things, which is the most downloaded paper in the IEEExplore®, thanks to my experience as a pioneer of the Smart Cities.

  12. Published more than 80 papers, in peer reviewed Journals and Conferences, since I have joined the University, restarting my research almost from scratch (see my Google Scholar profile)

JOB DESCRIPTION Responsible for the a program targeting a GSM/GPRS phone, consisting in the advanced integration of the HW and SW (firmware, protocols and applications): management of a budget exceeding € 4M and of an international team composed of about 100 resources in Europe, Asia and India.

Defining the guidelines for the start-up of Neonseven (currently U-BLOX Italy), a company for the outsourcing of the activities related to the software development:

-Planning the corporate processes, finding of adequate resources to the targets.

-Participation in the Board as observer and responsible for P&L, in order to increase the margins and optimize the decisions.

Interaction with all functions involved in the implementation of the program, with frequent travels for coordinating the different sites of R&D, Production and Sales.

Managing the Quality area and the contacts with the Top Customers (Nokia) ensuring the highest levels of customer satisfaction.


KEY ACHIEVEMENTS AND PROJECTS REALIZED

  1. Defined the program organization at global level managing effectively the human, technical and financial resources at my disposal.

  2. The program led to the implementation of the most integrated solution (CMOS single chip) for the processing of the RF signal, the baseband signal, the protocols and the applications, so that the modem and the application processing could be realized for the first time in a 4cm2 board, with a consequent reduction of the area of 30% compared to the previous solutions

DIRECTOR PRODUCT CREATION & SITE MANAGER - Microcell A/S - Copenaghen (DK)

JOB DESCRIPTION Creation of the design centre in Copenhagen aimed at the development and implementation of mobile phones for different customers, with an ODM business model.

Management and realization of all projects assigned to the centre within the time and the standards scheduled.

Defining the electronic and mechanical project setting; management of a working group composed of 90 researchers maximizing the focus on the achievements.


KEY ACHIEVEMENTS AND PROJECTS REALIZED

  1. Created and managed the development center that produced in two years several models of mobile phones for Philips and Siemens, including a couple of the Xelibri series in partnership with IDEO.

  2. Introduced a customer-oriented approach that has led to the implementation of highly customized products based on the quality standards required by the customer with competitive prices.

  3. Realized the projects assigned according to the times scheduled and the guideline provided, obtaining the highest levels of customer satisfaction.

  4. Created a working group focused on achieving the goals, going from zero to 90 resources in a year, promoting their synergy and the collaboration

HEAD  OF THE DEPARTMENT  “ADVANCED  DEVELOPMENT” - Telit - Sgonico (IT)

JOB DESCRIPTION Definition of the guidelines related to the corporate R&D plans (hardware, firmware, protocols and applications) for the generation of new products.

Managing the contacts with Universities and other research centres for possible collaborations compliant with the corporate policies and objectives.

Coordinating all the department tasks, ensuring training of the staff and the constant updating of the corporate know-how.

  1. Participated in the activities of Research with Universities and other Research centres, and in standardization processes, including those relating to third-generation cellular systems (3GPP).

TEAM LEADER “DIGITAL COMMUNICATION”  - Telit - Sgonico (IT)

JOB DESCRIPTION Management of the site of Padua and of the group "Digital Communication" with direct responsibility for the UMTS Program management, cooperating with two of the major European producers of integrated circuits.

Recruiting, coordination and evaluation of the working team in order to maximize the organizational efficiency.

Monitoring the standardization for third-generation systems paying particular attention to the physical layer.

  1. Created and managed the group "Digital Communication" with the University of Padua. Achieved many professional rewards and the acknowledgement for the work done by advancing to the role of Head of the Department for Advanced Development.

TEAM LEADER “LAYER 1 CONTROL”  - Telit - Sgonico (IT)

JOB DESCRIPTION Creation and management of the working group to develop the control part of the GSM Layer 1 software.

The software is the unit of the protocol stack operating in hard real-time and used in a multitasking embedded operating system for the control of the signal processing operations both at RF and baseband level.

Analysis and design of the software architecture, definition of solutions, ensuring functionality, quality and timing of the processing.
